Freezer Repair — Book a Visit Today

A freezer that quits doesn't wait for a good time. Ice cream goes soft, the brisket sweats, and you're standing there with the door open wondering how long it's been warm. Most failures trace back to a handful of parts: a frosted-over evaporator coil, a dead defrost heater, a tired condenser fan, a start relay that won't kick the compressor on, or a door gasket that stopped sealing years ago. When we come out, we read the temps, pull the back panel, check the defrost cycle, and test the sealed system before we touch a single part. Then we tell you plainly what failed and what fixing it involves. Call us and we'll get you on the schedule.

Freezer Repair — residential freezer being serviced

The freezer symptoms we hear most

  • Everything's soft but the light still comes on Compressor not starting — start relay, capacitor, or control board
  • There's a wall of ice on the back panel Defrost system failure — heater, thermostat, or timer stuck
  • It runs all day and never shuts off Low refrigerant charge, dirty condenser coils, or failed thermostat
  • Frost is creeping up the door seal Warm air leaking past a torn or hardened gasket
  • Loud buzzing or clicking every few minutes Evaporator fan obstruction or compressor short-cycling on overload

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Pull the freezer out and look at the condenser coils underneath or behind — a thick blanket of dust and pet hair chokes cooling.
  • 2Close the door on a dollar bill and tug; if it slides out easy, the gasket isn't sealing.
  • 3Make sure the vents inside aren't packed solid with frozen bags blocking airflow.
  • 4Check that the plug is seated and the outlet has power by testing it with a lamp or phone charger.

Freezer Repair — quick answers

How long can food stay safe if the freezer stops?

A full freezer holds temperature about two days if you keep the door shut. A half-full one gets you around a day. Keep it closed, move what you can to a cooler with ice, and toss anything above 40 degrees for long.

Why does frost keep building up inside?

Frost-free models run a heater on a cycle to melt evaporator ice. When the heater, thermostat, or timer fails, ice piles up and blocks airflow. Bad door seals cause it too, by letting humid Texas air sneak in all day.

Is it worth repairing an older freezer?

Depends on what failed. Fan motors, gaskets, defrost parts, and control boards are usually sensible fixes. A dead compressor in a unit past fifteen years is a harder call. We'll tell you what we find and let you decide.

Do you work on chest and upright standalone freezers?

Yes — chest freezers, upright garage units, and the freezer side of side-by-sides and French door refrigerators. We service all major brands as an independent shop. Have the model number handy when you call us.

Does our hard water affect a freezer?

It does if there's an ice maker. Scale from West Texas water clogs fill valves and lines, so ice comes out small, hollow, or not at all. We clean or replace the affected parts during the visit.

Why is the garage freezer struggling in summer?

Heat is the reason. Many freezers aren't rated for garage temperatures, and when it's 105 outside the condenser can't shed heat. Clean coils help. Some units need a garage kit or a cooler spot to keep up.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell, or see. Noise, leak, error code, burning odor. Give us the brand and rough age if you know them.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician arrives with common parts on the truck. We test the machine instead of guessing. Then we explain what failed, in plain words, and what the repair takes before anything gets opened up.

  3. Step 3

    You decide, we repair

Nothing gets replaced without your go-ahead. Most repairs finish the same visit. If a part must be ordered, we tell you straight and set a return time that works for your day.

Why homeowners call us

  • Hard water is our specialtyWest Texas scale wrecks dishwashers, ice makers, and water valves. We see it daily. Clogged spray arms, crusted heating elements, inlet screens choked white. We clean and replace the parts that scale eats first.
  • Built for Texas summersHeat pushes refrigerators and freezers hard. Condenser coils pack with dust, compressors run nonstop, garage freezers quit in triple digits. We check cooling systems for heat load, not just for the obvious broken part.
  • Plain talk, no runaroundWe tell you what died and why. If a machine is not worth fixing, we say so. You get the reasoning, not a sales pitch, so you can make the call yourself.
  • Most brands, most machinesWashers, dryers, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, fridges, freezers. We work as an independent shop on all major brands, top load and front load, gas and electric. One call covers the whole laundry room and kitchen.
